Bile produced in the liver accumulates in small canaliculi and is poured into the main bile duct. Before reaching the duodenum, the biliary tract opens a branch next to it, and the opened arm reaches the gallbladder. In this way, little but constantly bile produced by the liver is stored in this sac shaped like a bag. The function of the gallbladder in the body is to store the bile produced by the liver for a while.[/vc_column_text]

[vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1659122276577{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

What role does the gallbladder have in the body?

The gallbladder is assigned to store the fluid called bile produced by the liver in the body. When the body is hungry for a long time, the bile-based fluid is collected and stored in this sac. During digestion, the gallbladder contracts and pours the bile liquid into the intestine.[/vc_column_text]

[vc_column_text]

Gallbladder Cancer

Gallbladder cancer is defined as cancer of the digestive system, which is not common, progresses quickly and has a poor survival rate.[/vc_column_text]

[vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1659122387621{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

What Symptoms Are Observed in Gallbladder Cancer?

Jaundice

Sudden and rapid weight loss

Stomach ache

Nausea, vomiting

Inability to tolerate food

Darkening of urine color, whitening of stool color

Problems with the digestive system

A palpable mass in the abdomen

High fever

[/vc_column_text]

[vc_column_text]

When Do Sick People Start to Feel the Symptoms of Gallbladder Cancer?

All symptoms of gallbladder cancer often begin to manifest themselves before the diagnosis of the disease. Usually, some symptoms begin to be felt in the 3-6 months before the onset of the disease. The most important of the cases related to biliary cancer is jaundice and a large mass in the area of the gallbladder. The discernible mass may also be painful from time to time.

Bile cancer can occur in sick people, usually one year after the findings related to bile cancer. Therefore, in order to detect the disease early, if these symptoms are felt, it is absolutely necessary to consult a physician without wasting time.[/vc_column_text]

[vc_column_text]

Diagnosis and Diagnosis of Gallbladder Cancer

The patient’s medical history is examined, physical examination is performed, and he is asked if he has any other complaints. If there are other symptoms among the patient’s complaints and a palpable mass in the abdomen is detected in the physical examination, the first procedure to be performed is to examine the sac by performing an abdominal ultrasonography. Integrity disorder in the mucosa of the gallbladder, increased echogenicity of the patient, or hypoechogenic enlargement of the tissues below the mucosa support the suspicion of cancer.

In blood tests, complete blood count, alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin levels secreted by the gallbladder and liver function tests provide information about the function of the gallbladder. If a cancer localization is observed in the bile ducts inside or outside the liver tissue, deterioration in blood values is detected. In addition to clinical symptoms, CEA, that is, carsionembryogenic antigen, which is one of the characteristics of the tumor, is high in half of the patients and in 80% of the CA-19-9 (cancer antigen).

When the symptoms in the ultrasound results increase the suspicion of cancer, computed tomography examination is applied. In this way, other lymph node location in the liver, abdomen and abdomen is examined. While the symptoms and treatment of gallbladder cancer are performed, MRI is also used. With the help of MR (magnetic resonance) imaging, the distribution of cancer and the size of the tumor can be determined in more detail than computed tomography. Pancreatic and periportal lymph nodes are identified by endosonography. In this application, inoperable cases are detected with the help of fine needle biopsy.

Endoscopic retrogard and percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography can help guide the decision that the product cannot be removed completely or in the choice of palliative application. As in all cancer symptoms, positron emission tomography examination is performed to determine the organs where the product is distributed in the body and biopsy is performed for clear diagnosis.[/vc_column_text]

[vc_column_text]

How is the treatment done in gallbladder cancer?

The process regarding the symptoms and treatment of gallbladder cancer is as follows.
The main treatment method in gallbladder cancer is surgery. The surgeon decides what kind of surgical procedure will be performed, taking into account the stage and symptoms of the disease. In some cases, prophylactic cholecystectomy can be applied to the asymptomatic gallbladder. Some researchers oppose prophylactic cholecystectomy, arguing that stones formed in the gallbladder are less likely to cause cancer.

Cases in which clear surgical treatment is required:

Suspicious appearance on the wall of the gallbladder in ultrasound examinations,
In case the diameter size is over 1 cm and the number of polyps is low (as the risk of cancer formation is high)
If there are more than three polyps or larger than 18mm in diameter in the pouch (as there is a high risk of cancer formation)

The number of surgical treatment options in gallbladder cancer is determined by the stage of the disease, the location of the tumor, and whether the first method to be applied is surgery. In some cases, tissue removal from the lobes of the liver along with the gallbladder or tissue from the bile ducts in the liver and other important applications may be required.

Stages of gallbladder cancer:

Stage 1: It is the stage where the cancer is in a single region. The gallbladder tumor is only intramuscularly located.
Stage 2: Ur is located only in the mucous layer of the gallbladder.
3. Stage: The cancer tumor has covered all the walls of the gallbladder. The cystic duct may or may not be covered with lymph nodes.
Stage 4: At this stage of the disease, the gallbladder tumor has spread to other side organs along with the liver. There are localizations in the bile ducts and other lymph nodes.

The stage at which the disease is diagnosed is very important in terms of the symptoms and treatment of gallbladder cancer. As the stage progresses in the disease, that is, as it gets worse, surgical intervention is in the form of large-scale organ or tissue removal, including the liver and lymph nodes. The goal of these interventions is to increase the patient’s chance of survival.

In patients in the last stages where surgical interventions will not yield results, closed drainage is performed to reduce jaundice and pain-reducing applications are made. Preventive treatment applications: Chemotherapy is mostly ineffective in gallbladder cancers. Radiotherapy cannot be applied as they spread on the peritoneum and lymphatics. Recently, high-temperature chemotherapy and other smart drugs that resist the cleaning of the inside of the abdomen with high-temperature chemotherapy for 1 to 1.5 hours after removal of the product are applied.

Temporary treatment:

Since this disease progresses insidiously, being diagnosed in the phase approaching the end causes the patient to miss the possibility of recovery with surgical intervention. Such people have a less than 5% chance of surviving 1 year after the disease is diagnosed. Temporary treatments aim to reduce the symptoms that the patient complains the most and increase the patient’s quality of life. The cause of this disease is as important as the symptoms and treatment of gallbladder cancer.[/vc_column_text]

[/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=”aligncenter” css=”.vc_custom_1659122196811{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”] Bile Tracts and Gallbladder Cancer [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
