In other words, when we say kidney tumor, we mean cancer. We encounter very few benign kidney tumors. It also has two types. The most common type is tumors arising from the shell of the kidney. There are also tumors in the inner part of the kidney, where urine is formed. These two are slightly different. In general, we can say that tumors arising from the inner part of the kidney are a little more dangerous than others.[/vc_column_text]

[vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1658691810626{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

What are the Symptoms of Kidney Tumor?

The most important symptom of the tumor originating from the inner part of the kidney is bleeding in the urine. Bleeding in the urine makes us search for cancer first, until proven otherwise. Cancer of the inner part of the kidney is seen very frequently, especially in smokers. The symptom of cancer emerging from the shell of the kidney may be bleeding in the urine, but this is a later symptom. Generally, these tumors are detected in a very early period with the frequent use of tomography, ultrasound and MR today. The type of cancer that emerges from the outer shell of the kidney does not give any symptoms in the early period, if it progresses too much, there may be symptoms such as weight loss and loss of appetite. There is very important information on this subject; Kidney tumor patients usually go to internal medicine or dermatology specialists. Because most of the patients apply to the doctor with itching.[/vc_column_text]

[vc_column_text]

What kind of treatment is applied?

First, let’s briefly summarize the treatment of tumors arising from the crust. The only treatment for these tumors that come out of the kidney shell is to remove the mass. If the mass is up to 5 cm and is not close to the main vessels of the kidney, that is, in a place where it can be removed, we only remove the mass, we do not touch the kidney. The patient can lead a normal life. There is no kidney loss. But if it is larger than 5 cm or it is a tumor located where the main veins of the kidney are, it becomes impossible to remove it. Then we remove the kidney with the mass. In this treatment, the most frequently applied method today is laparoscopic surgery. In other words, we remove the mass by making four holes in the body. The advantage of this is that there is no large muscle incision, the entire operation is completed with only a 6-7 cm incision. This is how we treat 70-80% of these cases. But some kidney tumors (cancers) come to us as very large and have a cancer clot in the main vein of the body. In this case, we perform the operations with classical open surgery, not the laparoscopic method. This is a rare occurrence.

The situation is slightly different in tumors in the inner part of the kidney. If there is a tumor in the inner part of the kidney, it means that it will recur to a great extent in the urinary bladder. Therefore, in these cases, we also evaluate the urinary bladder. If there is no problem in the urinary bladder, the treatment is again by laparoscopic surgery; The kidney is in the form of a comprehensive surgery by removing the entire urinary tract and a part of the urinary bladder where the kidney opens. Afterwards, we check the bladder at regular intervals with the possibility of recurrence (recurrence) in the bladder. Smoking is an important risk factor, especially for intrarenal tumors. Working in the industry and taking high-dose painkillers for a long time, especially for tumors arising from the shell of the kidney, are among the important risk factors.[/vc_column_text]

[vc_column_text]

What is the Success Rate in Treatment?

The important thing here is the pathology report after the surgery. If it is a tumor that has not attacked the capsule of the kidney and its surroundings in the pathology report, this treatment ends at a rate of almost 90%. But if the kidney’s capsule, adipose tissue is involved, has spread to the lymph, and it has gone out of the kidney, then we cannot speak so optimistically. In these cases, immunotherapy is applied and chemotherapy or radiotherapy is not included in the treatment of these tumors. If there is spread, it is treated with drugs that stimulate the immune system.[/vc_column_text]

[/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=”aligncenter” css=”.vc_custom_1658691670970{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”] Kidney Tumors [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
